Kendall's 3rd Birthday

My baby girl is now 3 years old. It's hard to believe. We had her a bday party last night. She loved every minute of it. She was a HAM! ha! She asked for a Dora cake so that's what she had. My friend Jenny got her a backpack which I think she loved the most of all. Here are a few pictures.

Wow, fall break is over. It seems like it just flew by. I enjoyed my time off but the boys weren't off. They are off this week.
The boys have taken up horseback riding. Chris took them to several horse sales and we all have horses now. Well, actually I did have a horse but it started acting a little silly for me so Chris sold it. I'm a big chicken. I used to ride all the time when I was younger but have lost my nerve. Corey got a quarter horse. It is white with brown spots. Chance got a saddle horse. It is solid black. We all went to Green River to riding the trails a couple of weeks ago and then Chris took the boys back again this weekend.
Kendall is almost 3. She will turn three on Nov. 15th. It's right around the corner. Chance's bday is the 25th of this month. He will be 13!! I will have a teenager. Can't believe that! I feel old.

Virginia Beach 2010

Loved having Labor Day off! Then was off on Tuesday also because Corey and Kendall had a stomach virus. Chance missed school today with it. He has had his first two football games at Clinton Co. They haven't went so well. They got beat both games. It is somewhat discouraging to be having another losing season of football. Last year at Adair they struggled also.
Im really ready for fall. I love fall! It's my favorite season.

Well its been quite a while since I've posted. Life has been happening around us. Here are a few highlights.

Ft. Wayne, Indiana- Chance's team won a USSSA National Tournament. Yeah! There was a police escort when we came into town and several people on the square waiting to congratulate them at 9:30 at night. I knew but didn't tell Chance. He had no clue what was happening.
Hampton, Virginia- Chance's team competed in AAU National tournament. They played two really tough teams in pool play, went into the Classic Tournament and finished 2nd.
Virginia Beach- We finally made it to the beach. Yahoo!
School started- I have 23 kids, not too bad! Thought I was having 26. It's off to a pretty good start.
Corey had a dirt bike wreck and broke his right arm the Saturday before school started on Tuesday. Broke both bones in lower arm, in a cast up past his elbow.
Boys started school in Clinton Co.- To make a long story short, Adair Co. wouldn't let us retain them and we felt strongly about it so they are at Clinton Co. Everything's going well so far.
Just a few things in my life right now.

I know it's been forever since I posted. Things are crazy as usual. School is finally out and I've been trying to do some major cleaning. We are having a yard sale this Sat. so I have been dragging things out from everywhere. I even went into the attic.......you can imagine. Chance is finally at a break with the Elite team. We go again on July 9-12 to Ft. Wayne, IN and then on the 15th to Hampton, Virginia. I am looking forward to Virginia. Corey's team has played off and on. I'm not for sure when the next tournament is. Kendall is growing. She got her ear's pierced last week. She did really well. She only cried for a minute. I took her and Corey to the Russell county fair. She really enjoyed it. The carousel was her favorite.

More Basketball News
Since winning the 12U State Championship, Chance's team has gone on to win three more tournaments and placed 2nd in another one. We have had something for the past several weekends. They have won Battle of the Borders in Louisville, Cincinnati Knights Shootout in Cincinnati, and 13U AAU State Tournament in Lexington. They placed 2nd in a BCI tournament in Lexington. They have been a really successful team so far. This upcoming weekend they play in Akron, Ohio at a Lebron James tournament. There are 60 teams in the 12U division alone. It ranges from 11U to17U. It will be crazy, but Chance is really looking forward to it.

Corey played last weekend in Bardstown but the coach put them in a tournament with older kids. They didn't fair so well. Hopefully, our home 6th grade team will play in a couple of tournaments in June. So that will be much better for him. He and Chance both are really enjoying going to Lindsey Wilson College's new Wellness Center. They have a large pool and other things.

Kendall is talking all the time. She talks about everything. I was impressed with her the other day. My mom had this computer game she bought for the boys and it has a matching card game on it. It is like the game of memory but on the computer. I would turn over the cards and she could remember where they were. She would point and say, Right there!

School has been pretty good lately. My class is behaving somewhat better since some drastic actions took place. It was just getting to be too much! We will start testing May 10th. Our last day is now June 7th but I sure hope that changes. We won't have a summer break if we go that long.

12u State AAU Champions Division 1

Chance and Kel competed this weekend in the State AAU Division 1 tournament for 12 year olds and under. They won all games to become the "Champions." They play for the Kentucky Elite team. This team has been hand selected from some of the top players in the area. We have kids from Pike County, Hazard, Clinton County, and others.

Well, my Monday started off with a bang! Well, actually it all started Sunday. Corey told me he had some bumps on his stomach and back. So I looked at them and my thought was that it is chicken pox. It was confirmed today when I took him to the doctor. He has chicken pox! He will not be able to attend school all week and possibly some of next week. Only after the last bump has crusted over can he return to school. :)
Next, Chance called me from his friends house to tell me that he had chipped his tooth AGAIN! This makes the 7th time in all for one of his front teeth to be chipped. So, I took him to the dentist this afternoon. She also cleaned his teeth which was $110. Yippee! Do you hear the sarcasm!
Now, Chance is laid up on the couch complaining with a headache and fever. Who knows what it is now.
Corey is supposed to play ball in Barren Co. this weekend. We will have to see how the spots are for that. And Chance is supposed to play in Lexington.
The next 8 out of 9 weekends have ball tournaments scheduled. Guess what I will be doing?

School=Crazy.......ARC meetings, RTI meetings, Learning labs, Progress notes, Testing crunch!!!!

Kendall, Chance, & Chris have all had the stomach virus. Corey and I have been lucky so far. I hope we stay that way.

Corey played ball in Green Co. this past weekend. They got 2nd. Chance was supposed to go practice with the Kentucky Elite team on Sat. but he was sick. He will practice again this Sat.
Both boys have still been going to the gym and working out with their coach, Greg. Neither one decided to play baseball this year. That is a change from any year in the past. Maybe a little break before the Elite schedule hits full force.

I'm loving the beautiful weather. It seems my days at school have been better with the ability to hang outside recess over their heads. :) The girls at school are starting an afterschool workout group being on Thursday. I am planning on attending to get in shape. :)
Well, I better go...Kendall is wanting milk.

Corey got his staples out on Tuesday of last week. One part started to bleed. They had overlapped the skin and it pulled apart a little but he said it would be ok. Kendall had to get a shot to up date her immunizations. She didn't like it at all. She whined about it for 3 days and still talks about it. She was 38 inches tall and weighed 44 pounds. Wow! She is a load to carry.
We are out of school today and again tomorrow. I am ready to get back and be back to normal.

We are planning on heading out to Murfeesburo, TN this weekend for a ball tournament. The 5th graders and 6th graders are playing. We should see several games.

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

Here are the boys at the state tournament with Richie Farmer.
Chance's 7th grade team lost to Russell Co. last night in the conference championship but the 8th grade team won. Kendall has now been chanting "AC" or "rebound" at random times. I wonder why? :)
Corey got his 11 staples taken out today. Kendall got a shot today for an immunization that was backordered.
My day was really crazy. I have a very challenging group of students this year. I was constantly telling kids not to do something. We dismissed at 1:30 due to weather. It is snowing some here and the temperature has really dropped. It is supposed to be in the single digits I believe. I have a feeling we will not be in school tomorrow.

Corey's ER Visit

We just got back from the ER. Corey jumped up and hit his head on the lower ceiling at Kel's house. It made a moon-shaped gash in the top of his head. When we got there it had stopped bleeding but when the doctor checked it out, it began pouring blood again. They put 10-15 staples in it and wrapped his head up like a mummy. He will have to have them taken out in about 10 days. They also did a CT scan to make sure there wasn't any bleeding inside. It came back fine.

STATE RUNNER-UP

Last weekend the 22-23 of Jan. the boys competed in the 6th grade state tournament in Lexington. We came in 2nd place. We were really excited about that but the boys really wanted to win. Here is a link to an article on Columbia Magazine about it. http://www.columbiamagazine.com/index.php?sid=34616

There is also a write up about the tournament on http://www.kyprephoops.com/. Then go to Ron Harrison's blog.

We didn't have any school today due to the possibility of snow. It didn't start falling until around 2 o'clock here so we could of went today. But I was glad to have a day off.

Chance is getting ready to start playing on a traveling basketball team out of London. It is called Kentucky Elite. They have 13 tournaments between now and July. His friend Kel is also playing on it so his family and us are going to take turns taking the boys. This will help with the expenses of everything. They will play in Fort Wayne, IN, Atlanta, Georgia, Akron, OH. I think it will be a good experience for him. Two other people came up to us and have wanted Chance to play on their teams also. I think we are just sticking to the one.

Corey is doing great in school. His teacher moved him into the 6th grade level on his Accelerated Math. She sent a note in the mail bragging on him.

Kendall is growing. She seems to be getting taller. She stayed with my parents when we went to the state tournament. That helps me out a lot.

The boys have taken their bean bag chairs from their rooms upstairs. They pull them up and play the games. Right now there are two t.v.'s hooked up to games. We are planning on getting a couple more so each game system has it's own t.v. and they don't have to hook and unhook them all the time. They also have a small table, microwave, and a little frig. Oh,yeah, and the upstairs if the Nerf war territory. They have a whole arsonal of Nerf guns and bullets.
Of course, the red and black room is Corey's Louisville room and Chance's is blue and white for Kentucky. I bet you can't guess whose room the other one is??? Ha!

Another snow day!! I have had 4 snow days in a row. I am kindof ready to go back. Alot of content to cover before testing. It was nice though to have Monday off since we were gone all weekend. The boys played in a tournament in Louisville. They Won!! Kendall stayed with my parents. Thanks you mom and dad! It really made it much easier. Our electricity went out on Friday night around 7:15. I called and reported it immediately. It was just ours and Chris' parents but no one else in the neighborhood. Finally around 9:30 and 3 phone calls later, they came and fixed it within 30 minutes. The round thingy on the post near the road must have blown. They had to replace it.

I finally took pictures of some of the house since it is "finished". I use that term loosely. There are still several little things to do and not much on the walls yet. But we are living in it.

Well, I better go. I need to work on the farm taxes for a bit. Yuck!

Our First Snow Day this year! Yahoo! The boys and I both were out today. I really didn't do much of anything that would account for something but oh, well. I did do laundry of course and fixed chili for supper. Kendall had her real first time playing in the snow. We didn't stay out very long. She cried when we came in. Here are a few pictures from the snow adventure and one from Christmas.
We are heading to Louisville this weekend for a 6th grade basketball tournament. Then we will go to Lexington on the 23rd for the 6th grade state tournament.
Kendall's saying last Sunday at the breakfast table. "My hair's crazy." Her hair had static and kept gettin in her face. Funny :)
